Thousands of Peruvians took to the streets in Lima and other cities on June 19 to defend the presidential electoral victory of socialist candidate Pedro Castillo from the Free Peru party.
Right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori from the Popular Force party is still refusing to concede. Castillo won the elections with a margin of more than 44,000 votes.
As the electoral authorities work to check all votes challenged by the opposition, Fujimori has been creating a climate of doubt in order to justify a coup.
