A picnic and walk-a-thon in solidarity with Cuba was organised by the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society on April 3. Around 40 people joined the “From Australia to Cuba With Love Campaign”, walking 22 kilometres.

Cuban Ambassador Ariel Lorenzo Rodrigo and first secretary Liuba Montano Rubio also attended. Rodrigo spoke about Cuba’s challenges, made more difficult by the repressive United States blockade. He also talked about progress being made in tackling the pandemic including that Cuba had developed five vaccines against COVID-19. He said the country is willing to share them with the world but is limited by the blockade which prevents it importing some essential production materials.
