More than 500 people rallied in Boorloo (Perth) on October 22 to show their solidarity with the pro-democracy movement that has erupted in Iran.
The protest in Forrest Place was organised by the Iranian Australian of WA group.
Following the death of Mahsa (Jina) Amini custody on September 22 after being arrested by Iran’s Islamic morality police for not wearing a hijab correctly, the protest movement, led by women, has continued.
The rally was also addressed by members of the West Australian Ukrainian community and family members of Ricky Lee Cound, an Aboriginal man who died in police custody earlier this year.
