Why

The Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela has been a huge inspiration over the past two decades for leftist and progressives around the world.

However, in recent years, the advances of an earlier period have stalled in the face of brutal US sanction and deep economic crisis.

The July 28 presidential election saw the national electoral authority (CNE) declare President Nicolas Maduro re-elected, but the result has been challenged by sectors from the right and left.

In the face of this, the CNE has failed to release final results that can be verified, leading to competing explanations about the result.

This forum will examine the election results and what they reveal about Venezuelan politics and the state of the Bolivarian Revolution today.
