Schools week of action for Palestine and Lebanon

Actions, protests & rallies
New South Wales

When

8:00am Monday 21 October to 5:00pm Friday 25 October

Why

Teachers refuse to be silent about Australia's backing of the genocide in Gaza.

During the 2nd week back of Term 4, Mon Oct 21 - Friday Oct 25, we will be taking action.

You choose what you do at your school, just be sure to take photos and send to us.

It could be wearing keffiyeh, hosting a watermelon Wednesday, displaying Palestinian and Lebanese flags, fundraising for Gazan refugees, or taking group photos with placards - available here: https://tinyurl.com/TSS4Pposters

WHY ARE WE TAKING ACTION?

After a year of genocide, Israel has murdered over 42,000 people in Gaza, over 100,000 have been wounded.

The true death toll could be approaching 200,000 according to the Lancet https://www.thelancet.com/.../PIIS0140-6736(24.../fulltext

Gaza has been flattened, universities, schools and hospitals have been destroyed. There is mass starvation.

Around 700 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, and over 2000 people now killed in Lebanon. Israel has also bombed, Yemen, Syria and Iran.

Yet the Australian government continues to trade weapons with Israel, both buying and selling. It speaks performatively about a ceasefire, but has taken no action against Israel, instead the government continues to insist on Israel's "right to self-defence". That must change.
