A rally of 500 people answered the election of the new Liberal National Party (LNP) government in Queensland on November 1.
During the election campaign, the Katter Australia Party threatened to introduce legislation to attack abortion rights if the LNP won. Almost all LNP parliamentarians voted in 2018 to keep abortion illegal. During this year's election campaign, LNP leader David Crisafulli refused to guarantee that abortion would remain legal at least 132 times.
Speakers at the rally vowed to build community wide alliances to resist the every LNP government attack on workers rights, the environment and women's rights, including defending the right to abortion.
