Nurses and midwives across New South Wales took strike action on February 15, including holding a large rally outside NSW Parliament, where they spoke about their log of claims, including safe staff ratios.
Socialist Alliance candidate for the NSW Senate, Paula Sanchez, spoke to Green Left about what nurses and midwives are campaigning for and why she is running with the Socialist Alliance.
Sanchez is a healthcare educator and has worked as a nurse for more than 20 years. She is currently a lecturer at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the Western Sydney University. Sanchez is also active in the Latin American solidarity movement in Sydney.
