The Venezuelan national assembly elections last weekend were significant for the dramatic win by the governing PSUV (United Socialist Party of Venezuela) with 69% of the vote compared to the 2015 elections which were won by the right wing opposition. Nevertheless there was an abstention rate around 70% which reflects some weaknesses for the socialist project in Venezuela. This interview with Federico Fuentes unpacks the issues around these elections.
