NEWCASTLE — On the morning of July 29, 200 workers rallied outside the office of federal Coalition MP Bob Baldwin in the town of Raymond in a display of solidarity with the nine-week-long strike by maintenance workers employed by Boeing at the Williamtown RAAF base.

Baldwin, whose federal seat of Paterson incorporates the Williamtown base, has denounced the strike as a "political stunt".

Delegations from a number of unions attended the rally. The Maritime Union of Australia announced a donation of $5000 for the strikers. Other unions are also donating generously. Socialist Alliance activists have raised $550 over the past few weeks in street-stall donations.
