Palestine supporters protested outside the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Palestinian Children’s Day on April 9, condemning Israel for stopping all aid, food, water, medicine and fuel from entering Gaza.

They demanded that the federal government act now to stop Israel’s massacre and its starvation of Palestinian children.

They called on Labor to: demand Israel allow “unfettered access” to aid in Gaza; sanction Israeli leaders for breaching international law; and cut diplomatic, military and trade ties with Israel.

Speakers included: refugee rights activist Lieke Janssen; Palestinian and Lebanese activist Jordan AK, from Socialist Alliance; and Palestinian and Free Palestine Melbourne organiser Muayad Ali, who chaired the rally. Healthcare workers and unionists attended.

Janssen said that “we are enraged and our hearts are broken, but that doesn’t mean that we have lost hope”.
