Comments of some NOWSA participants
Kylie Moon, 19, member of Resistance, studying at the University of Tasmania, third NOWSA: "The focus has been more on women taking action than compared to previous years. There has been a shift in the political perspective from purely individual to a more radical and collective approach."
Ming Yu, 19, University of Sydney, first NOWSA: "It was really strengthening to be among such a large group of diverse women ... very colourful."
Jaime McCormack, member of the 1997 NOWSA collective: "It was great to bring so many women from different states and backgrounds together to discuss many of the issues that we share."
Alisi Liva-Liva, 26, La Trobe (Bundoora), first NOWSA: "I gained more from NOWSA by networking with women outside the conference and discussing issues that concern women on a national, state, campus and individual level, and recognising that different states and campuses, due to political structures, power bases and legislation, must organise to suit these variations."
Jodie Mundy, 19, UWS (Nepean): "I think previous conferences have been fantastic, but to have NOWSA in UWS (Nepean) will be breaking out of the comfort zone that NOWSA has created in the past. Woman will be able to see the reality of women in the outer west of Sydney and learn a lot more in practice than in theory."
