Creating a better Green Left
The Green Left Weekly Equipment and Maintenance Fund was established at the beginning of this year to purchase new equipment for the production of Green Left Weekly. The idea was to raise $30,000 over and above the $100,000 fund appeal that covers shortfalls in the paper's regular operating costs.
That amount of extra income will buy Green Left Weekly an A3 printer, a scanner and updated computer hardware. And this week, we made the first purchase.
The extra equipment will take hours off the production time of Green Left every week. With Green Left now regularly publishing 32 pages, that time saving is essential.
The new equipment will also permit greater variation of style with a better integration of text and graphics, making Green Left Weekly an even more attractive publication than it is today.
Just this week, the fund enabled Green Left to purchase an A3 printer, which has helped simplify layout immensely.
As more contributions come in to the Equipment and Maintenance Fund, the remaining equipment will be purchased. We hope we can do this by the end of the year.
To all those who have contributed to the fund already, our warm thanks. The fund still needs the help of any Green Left reader with a little spare cash. Any supporter who gives $500 or more becomes a member of the Green Left 500 Club. Already there are more than 10 members across Australia.
Of course, every donation, no matter how small, is valuable and plays a part in making Green Left Weekly a better alternative news service.
Green Left Weekly relies on the
support of you, the readers. Your continued support will ensure this project continues well into the future. Green Left Weekly — it's your paper.
