Donations of the literary kind

Last week we received five copies of a book recently reviewed in Green Left Weekly's Cultural Dissent pages. Attached was a letter from the author explaining that the copies were to be used to raise funds for the paper, adding a note of thanks for the review.

He finished, "May I say that as a subscriber to Green Left I have been most impressed with the high quality maintained each week. I am particularly grateful for the work that you are doing to keep the dreadful events in East Timor in the public eye."

Green Left Weekly readers value the contribution the paper makes to Australian politics, and eagerly await the news and lively debates contained in its pages each week. Most are also aware that we produce this quality source of news and issues on a shoestring budget.

Any way that you financially support Green Left Weekly contributes to keeping it available as the most important alternative news source in Australia. The support of readers is necessary to bridge the gap between the cost of producing the newspaper and the income received from the cover price.

To play your part in ensuring that information is available to those who want to do something about changing the world, see page 3 for information about how you can help. Green Left Weekly — it's your paper.
