The Coalition of Women for Justice and Peace organised a poignant act of solidarity with the people of Palestine and Lebanon at Sydney Town Hall, on February 13.

About 50 women, of diverse ethnic backgrounds, formed a chain, holding posters exposing Israel’s atrocities committed against the people of Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.

The women were speaking out against the genocide and ethnic cleansing of tens of thousands of women, who have been targeted and murdered by Israel.

They called for an end to Israel’s occupation and apartheid and an end to the ongoing gross violations of human rights. They demanded the Australian government and public institutions to impose sanctions on Israel and hold it accountable for its war crimes.

Some passers-by engaged with the women, but mostly we stood in quiet dignity, letting our posters do the talking.
