Join us for a screening of one of the most important films of the year. The multiple award winning and now Oscar nominated documentary, 'No Other Land' follows the unlikely friendship between a Palestinian activist and lawyer and an Israeli investigative journalist and offers a sobering yet inspiring look at Palestinian resistance under occupation.
This award-winning documentary follows young Palestinian activist Basel Adra, recording his resistance against the forced displacement of his community (in West Bank region Masafer Yatta) by the Israeli military, and examining his friendship with Israeli journalist Yuval, who helps him in the struggle. They form an unexpected bond, but their friendship is challenged by the huge gap between their living conditions: Basel faces constant oppression and violence, while Yuval enjoys freedom and security.
The film - a collaboration between Basel Adra, Hamdan Ballal, Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor- won the Panorama Audience Award for Best Documentary Film, and the Berlinale Documentary Film Award at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, and has been shortlisted at the 97th Academy Awards for Best Documentary Feature Film. Proceeds will go to PANZMA (Palestinian Australian New Zealand Medical Association).
