Greens candidate condemns unionist's jailing

MELBOURNE — At a Latrobe University forum on October 6, Greens candidate for Batman Alex Bhathal condemned the jailing of Craig Johnston. Bhatal signed a petition calling on Victorian Premier Steve Bracks to release Johnston from prison. Bhathal said it would be "strange not to support Craig Johnston ... no unionist can expect to get a fair trial in Australia".

Holden delegates vote to support Johnston

ADELAIDE — At a meeting on October 6, Australian Manufacturing Workers Union vehicle division delegates at the Holden plant called on all unions to organise a campaign of protest action in support of the release of Craig Johnston from jail. The motion was passed unanimously. Stewards are now distributing copies of a petition calling on the Victorian government to release Johnston.
