Just three weeks after the beginning of a long-awaited ceasefire in Gaza, US president Donald Trump, standing alongside the butcher of Gaza, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has called for the US to 'take over' Gaza and permanently displace its more than two million Palestinian residents.
For Palestinians, this scene is all too familiar. Since 1948, they have been subject to numerous attempts to ethnically cleanse their homeland to create a Greater Israel.
The idea of ‘taking over’ Gaza and displacing its people is a textbook example of ethnic cleansing, prohibited under the Geneva Conventions. Moreover, it rewards Israel for a 15-month long genocidal campaign that has killed more than 60,000 Palestinians, largely paid for bu the United States.
