On June 3, thousands of people from across Israel demonstrated in Tel Aviv against the Israeli government and the international boycott and sanctions against the Hamas-led Palestinian Authority. The rally was held on the 39th anniversary of the Six Day War, when Israel illegally annexed the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The rally demanded Israel end the illegal occupation and begin immediate negotiations, without conditions, for a viable Palestinian state. Former Israeli education minister and Israel Prize winner Shulamit Aloni addressed the rally, saying: "We have passed despicable legislation which enables the army to do whatever it likes in the Occupied Territories without the need to pay compensation. It is permissible to destroy, kill, torture and injure. There is no justice and there is no judge." Palestinian educator Terri Boullata, principal of a school in Abu Dis in Jerusalem, also addressed the demonstration, bringing greetings from a simultaneous rally in Ramallah. The Ramallah rally was held in the Manara Square, where four Palestinians had been killed by Israeli occupation forces several days earlier.
