Why

On International Human Rights Day weekend, join public housing tenants, renters, homeless people, unionists and community organisers in demanding real action for housing justice.

The housing crisis is the worst in living memory. At least 750,000 people live in housing stress and are in desperate need of secure housing.

In Victoria former Premier Daniel Andrews declared the demolition of 44 public housing towers. This plan will displace over 10,000 families.

In the Northern Rivers, nearly two years after the floods, more than 1,000 people are still in temporary accommodation, and just 70 of the eligible 1,100 homes have had a buyback settled. In the Page Electoral Division, more than 68% of renters were already in rental stress before our community suffered the last two years of relentless rent increases.

In Lismore and surrounds, public housing tenants, renters and community organisers are leading the campaign to save public housing, freeze rents, ban no-grounds evictions and fully fund flood recovery.

Rally in Lismore to take action for housing justice, for governments to provide full funding for flood relief, to oppose the demolition of the public housing towers, defend and extend public housing, keep public land in public hands, freeze rents and to ban no-grounds evictions.
