More than 200 people attended the 2005 Marxist Summer School held by the Democratic Socialist Perspective in Sydney on January 8-11.
Participants discussed a wide range of topics relevant to Marxists today, from an analysis of the situation in Venezuela, to the growth of religious fundamentalism, to examinations of revolutionary and labour history.
Michael Leutert, a leader of the German Party of Democratic Socialism attended the conference, and a presentation was given by Nguyen The Phiet, the Sydney Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
A whip-round of conference attendees raised more than $3000 to send to SEGERA's fund for relief to activists in Aceh.
