Why

Abdullah al-Zaghar, head of the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS), has declared
August 3rd as a national and global day in support of Palestinian prisoners.

Israel currently holds approximately 9,500 Palestinian prisoners, including 200 children and 3,660 administrative detainees held without trial. In addition, more than 4,000 Palestinians whom Israel arrested in Gaza have been held at the military base in the Naqab since October 7.

These prisoners are subjected to torture, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, as well as many other human rights violations.

Join Free Palestine Melbourne in rallying in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners and in demanding an end to apartheid terror. 2pm at Parliament steps for speeches followed by a march to Flinders St.

Also the protest will feature John Shipton, Juliann Assange dad, in his first speech since his son’s release from prison, and Rob Martin, who leaves Melbourne immediately after the rally to join FLOTILLA to break Israel siege on Gaza

We also encourage everyone to also attend the weekly rally in the city the following day.
