Why

This public meeting will discuss how trade unionists can contribute to the global campaign against Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza.

Those in Sydney can join us in person at the MUA meeting rooms and there will be a Zoom broadcast option too, see registration link below.

Our unions hold the potential to bring serious collective power to the movement for a Free Palestine.

This meeting has been initiated by signatories to a statement signed by more than 2000 Australian unionists calling for an end to Israel’s brutal war, along with an end to Israel’s occupation and practices of apartheid and ethnic cleansing. This statement has now been endorsed by the MUA Sydney Branch and the CFMEU Construction Division.

We want to ensure we are better organised, to push our unions to take stronger positions calling for action against the war and to see large contingents of unionists on solidarity demonstrations.

Palestinian trade unions are calling for international solidarity, including direct action against Israel’s war machine. There are Israeli companies operating in Australia that could be targets for action in solidarity with the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement.

The meeting will also hear from a representative of the MUA Veterans Committee about proud traditions in Australia of union action against war and apartheid and discuss how to rebuild this power today.
