Helicon: Culture in PNG — While the PNG government concentrates on wooing foreign investors into the mineral and oil sectors, culture has been relegated to the bottom of its priorites. There are growing numbers of artists, writers and film makers convinced that the forging of a cultural identity in PNG is as important as economic development. Out on Wednesday! Christy Moore in concert — Christy Moore sings for an end to the British oppression of Ireland, for human rights throughout the world, of love and other progressive themes. His music has inspired the likes of Billy Bragg, Sinead O'Connor, the Pogues and Van Morrison. A recording of a concert made earlier this year. ABC FM stereo, Wed Aug 26, 8 p.m.
