Perth Festival Indian summit — The word is that Indian music will make its mark in world music circles this year. Tune into the grand finale involving all the Indian artists appearing in the 1993 Festival of Perth: Trilok Gurtu, percussion; Mallika Sarabhai and her dancers and musicians; Karnataka College of Percussion with special guest John Harle on saxophone. The Coming Out Show: International Women's Day edition — To mark IWD, the Coming Out Show explores the ideas, perspectives, work and ambitions of indigenous women. What does the UN "International Year for the World's Indigenous People" actually mean for them as women, and for their communities? From Years of Living Dangerously — The careers of many Soviet musicians were affected by Stalinism. The name of the avant-garde composer Nikolai Roslavets (1881-1944) was removed from Soviet history books. A planned performance of the fourth symphony of Shostakovich was cancelled in 1936 and the work not played until 1961. Hear these two composers' work. ABC FM Stereo, Tues March 9, 9.40 p.m.

Songs and Stories of Australia — Wollongong singer/songwriter Vincent Brophy's selection of his most recent songs reflecting his Irish/Australian background and his love of the Illawarra region. ABC Radio National, Wed March 10, 7.05 p.m.

Festival of Perth: Fong Namm — In its own name (which means "bubbles"), the Fong Namm ensemble of Thailand reflects the Buddhist view of culture as something of transparent, fleeting beauty. The group's repertoire embraces not only 500 years of traditional music but also a growing number of computer-based or electronic works. Its latest creation is a modern version of the Thai theatre's most ancient shadow play. ABC FM Stereo, Wed March 10, 10 p.m.
