The Blue Mountains Tibetan community and supporters marked the Tibetan National Uprising Day at an event in Katoomba, Dharug and Gundungurra country on March 10.

Today marks the 66th anniversary of the 1959 uprising.

Blue Mountains Tibetan Committee president Yarlo Ngawang and other speakers highlighted parallels with the brutal colonisation and resistance of First Nations people in Australia, Gaza and Tibet.

Blue Mountains City Council is the only local government in Australia that raises the Tibetan flag on this day.
