Women Out Loud: Beijing or Bust! — If you missed this program last Saturday, you'll be relieved to find it being repeated in the early hours of Wednesday, April 26. 35,000 women are expected to attend the UN conference on women in September. Representatives have returned from the first planning meeting in New York, and the latest news about the conference preparations will be passed. Also those from the alternative "Boycott Beijing" movement will have their say. ABC Radio National, Wednesday, April 26, 4.05am.
Skid Row's new transmitter — If you have had trouble tuning into Sydney's 2RSR-FM (88.9) over the years and have given up in frustration, it's time you tried again. Radio Skid Row and Koori Radio, the two components of RSR, have raised enough money to buy a new transmitter to send their alternative signals throughout Sydney's metropolitan area. The money was raised with the generous help of the band Spearhead and, logically enough, the powerful new pointy object has been nicknamed "Spearhead".
Women Out Loud: the Women's April Cafe — A magazine round up of the month's key women and events. ABC Radio National, Saturday, April 29, 5.05pm.
Sunday concert: Loreena McKennitt — Canadian Celt whose folk music has invited comparisons with Enya, and is inspired by Irish/Celtic bands such as Planxty, Pentangle, Steeleye Span, and the Bothy Band. ABC Radio National, Sunday, April 30, 4.05pm.
