Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union members employed by giant plasterboard manufacturer Knauf have been picketing the company’s Port Melbourne factory since September 16.
They are fighting for a pay rise and a limit on the use of casuals and labor hire so as to maximise permanent employment.
They are also concerned about safety, particularly the high levels of dust.
Workers rejected the company’s enterprise agreement offer in August and began industrial action, including work bans and short stop-work actions.
The company responded by locking workers out, after which they set up a picket line.
