National vigils and rallies on November 16 called Labor to do more to stop violence against women. They were organised by What Were You Wearing.
At least 84 women and 12 children have been murdered across the county this year.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described men’s violence against women a “national emergency” in July, when already 54 women had been murdered. Thousands took part in national rallies over July 26-28.
Back then Labor pledged to do more, but only slightly increased funding to services.
Much more needs to be done to eliminate violence against women and children the November rallies were told.
The names of murdered women and children murdered were read out in Gadigal Country/Sydney, including Australian aid worker Zomi Frankom, slaughtered in Gaza by Israeli forces.
