Human Rights Day Concert

ADELAIDE — A Human Rights Day Concert will be held on Saturday, December 12, at the Railway Institute Oval.
First held on International Human Rights Day in 1991, the "Make A Noise For Those With No Voice" concert was organised to draw attention to the plight of the many oppressed areas of the world usually ignored by the big media. The original concert was organised by local unemployed youth and was an outstanding success, drawing more than 2000 people.
More than 20 groups, including the Wilderness Society, Amnesty International, the Australia Tibet Council and Community Aid Abroad, helped make the event a success by setting up food stalls and providing information to all interested.
Four of Adelaide's most popular bands donated generously of their time to provide entertainment. Triple J recorded the entire concert and gave airplay to the bands and free publicity to the event.
