Refugee royal commission petition a hit

More than 10,100 people have signed an online petition supporting a call for a royal commission into the government's treatment of asylum seekers. Out of thousands of active petitions from all over the world listed on the Petition Online website, it was among the top ten for several weeks during the media exposure of the Coalition government's lies about the “children overboard” incident.

Along with growing protests against the bipartisan laws on refugees and various parliamentary inquiries, the petition campaign for a royal commission is tapping a growing revulsion with Australia's racist refugee policies. Many signatories have expressed some moving comments. Check it out for yourself at <http://www.petitiononline.com/ausrefug/> and also <http://www.refugee.royal.commission.org>.
