Families for Palestine (FFP) started a round-the-clock peaceful protest outside Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s electorate office in Marrickville on February 11.

They have committed to a permanent vigil and sit-in until there is an immediate and permanent ceasefire, UNRWA funding is reinstated and Labor ends its support for the state of Israel.

The protest is also calling for support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanction campaign against Israel and for consular support for Palestinian families in Gaza who wish to leave.

The sit-in is being supported by Palestine solidarity groups, including rank-and-file union groups for Palestine, students from Sydney University Student Representative Council as well as Socialist Alliance and the NSW Greens.

NSW Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi has shown support as has Jenny Leong, Greens MP for Newtown.

FFP is calling for volunteers for the roster. Shifts run for six hours, starting at 6am, in six-hour blocks. Alternatively, any time volunteered is appreciated. FFP said they do not need food supplies.

[The Prime Minister’s office is at 334A Marrickville Road, Marrickville. Sign up for the roster here. Follow Families for Palestine on Insta.]
